Best polish

As we have a wide range of forum members throughout the world what is the best polish out there? I use 'Mer' and then 'Meguiars Gold Glass wax' to get a deep shine here in the UK but what do you recommend?
i do Zaino and swear everbody should do the same <-- FREE AD!
Why is it so special then?

it actually does what it claims to. it's a complex product to use in an indicated way to get the result.
There are no "best" polishes, only bad ones.
The best polishing has more to do with the technique rather than the product.
that's a good one :)

just like with the windscreen wipers: there are no good wipers, just cheap bad ones and expensive bad ones.
As far as wax based ones go my vote is with zymol. Sold at walmart and many other stores.

Close!

There are bad polishes and there are polishes that are not bad.
The Best polishing job comes from a great tecnique applying a good polish.
My 2c.

I don't use polish. When I clean my HRV I use Turtle 2 in 1 wash and wax (for the only reason that thats the one my wife happened to buy) and dry it using a fluffly rag. I find this works just fine.
N-jay what technique do you use, I'm interested. I'm not dissing your theory but please share with us. I've never heard that comment before.

I use the technique where I want to get good finish, so I buy good polish, (Zymol, or 3M) then get in hurry and leave swirles all over my Eternal Blue CR-V!

After years of never getting the results I want, I have changed my method to where I do not polish at all except to fix problems (clean up touch-up paint, rub out light scratches, etc.) and right before I sell the car I get it detailed by a shop that does high-end cars and show cars, where I usually see 3M, and occaisionally Zymol products on the shelf!
quote ' then get in hurry'.

Seems that we have found why this is happening. I would say at least 2 hours for a proper job with a decent cloth would do the trick, compound swirls are a problem but can be polished out but if that's how you keep your motor clean then fair enough.

I have always found polishing in the garage gives the best results everytime even though some polishes claim that you can use them in the sun, I certainly wouldn't. Just look at the professionals they all clean them under a roof. I think that's what they call 'Lead by example'
i use autoglym body shampoo, then autoglym super resin polish, its good stuff i use it on my black hr-v,a hard colour to keep clean, and then i use autoglym extra gloss protection which is like a second polish, using polish apply pads and lint free dusters, then i use a fine brush to get in2 detailed areas of the hr-v i.e the bumper lines, petrol cap door etc. i work at a car store in england called halfords so ive tried out mer, halfords own brand and turtle wax and have found autoglym to be the best as dey also do good wheel cleaner, good window cleaner which is popular for cleaning house windows & mirrors aswell.

You obviously drive slow.................Real slow !
absolutely. i drive off the road :)
Hmm? Figures... no stone chips there!

I can get a good shine, but there are quite a few stone chips starting to appear. Maybe I should give up polishing it, then I wont see the chips and scratches.

If I'm feeling a bit lazy I'll use one of those all in one wash/wax liquids, then give it a quick run over with some Mr Sheen and a duster, Swirls? Waht swirls? and talk about slippy, you cant even lean on it without sliding off.
Looks good mrtn, any more of all the car?
thanks :) i guess i have to start over then - can't keep it clean for more than an hour :D
just been trying another make called 'Mer', not bad at all but the best one now is called 'Zymol' according to the chaps on another forum.

My garage now looks like Halfords with all the cleaning products I have, I don't think I've ever used a full bottle yet!!!!
