...I did'nt know if there was a six speed honda box that would go in, just thinking out loud now... Good question; I've also noticed that one doesn't need to be driving very fast (i.e. 110-115kph) to have the revs well over 3,000rpm. Does anyone know if there is a six speed gearbox available that can be swapped into the HR-V? I don't think that the HR-V would benefit much from a 6 speed gearbox ... torque is too low to allow high speed cruising at low rpm. You would have to go down to 5th or 4th very often. The max speed of the HR-V is reached on both 4th and 5th ... so the 5th is already a "cruising" gear. Ok what about junking the 4x4 system and installing a civic type R engine and box ... that would give 6 gears and some fairly rapid acceleration :-) Has anyone done the type R mod? I think the Type R 2.0 engine is too heavy for HRV, maybe a B16A2 with turbo will be perfect. |
