Corroded Alloys
Ok, lets give the new forum a go. Just given the car a good wash do to the amount of salt on the roads at the moment and noticed whilst cleaning the wheels that all of them had started to corrode around the centre caps. Anyone else had the same problem? HRV-BEN-UK  of course, alloys are extremely vulnerable. my corolla's alloys are corroding starting from the edges. when you look really close you can see the corrosion crawling under the paint, have it cleaned while it's in the center area, it will show on spokes. Looks like some alloys are better than others as the ones on my BMW are fine and it has done twice as many miles. I'll have to get them refurbished or replace. Anyone know how much to refurb per wheel? in Estonia it's 57 per 17" wheel, includes cleaning, new paint, new laquer. i bet it's twice as high in the UK. As per usual Hi Ben, there is a workshop at a place called Old Dalby near the A46 they will refurbish wheels for 25 each, I have a couple of friends that have used this workshop. Yes mine are coroded as well, I am waiting untill the weather gets better before having mine done. I will dig out the phone number and address and post here. Excellent. Ben |
