Please help--dog tried to eat my new CR-V!
I have a brand new 2008 EX. I like it very much. We have a 6 month old puppy. I do not like him very much right now. He did 2 things. First, he tore up my front license plate frame. I took it off and it is the original Honda one and does not look to me to be standard. It screws into the bumber with 2 screws on top and then has a bracket that screws in underneath the vehicle, which serves to pull in the bottom of the license plate frame so that it doesn't get pulled up by the two screws on top. I am thinking your standard plate frame will not work on a CR-V because if you get one that only screws in at the top, the bottom of the plate frame will be pulled up and look bad. If you get one that screws in at top and bottom, the bumper is curved such that I don't think you could get both the top and bottom screwed in. Anyone know where I can get one that will work for the CR-V? Second, he scuffed up my paint on the passenger side, below the headlight and above the black part. Looks to me like the only thing that could cover this up is a full nose mask? Not sure I will get one, but does anyone have one? How does it look? Can I get it online with a reputable vendor? How was installation? Thanks for any insight on this one. I have a brand new 2008 EX. I like it very much. We have a 6 month old puppy. I do not like him very much right now. You consider a dog skin Bra for your CRV? I have a brand new 2008 EX. I like it very much. We have a 6 month old puppy. I do not like him very much right now. He did 2 things. Are the screw holes visible? Do you live in a State that requires a front license plate? Just curious, GA doesn't require a front license plate, but the dealer we purchased from put it on. I haven't tried removing it because I was afraid they screwed it right through the front bumper cover and there would be screw holes if I removed it. As far as a replacement for yours, many places that don't require a front license plate just leave the bracket in the back of the car for the new owner to install if they wish, so there may be some members on here willing to part with theirs to help you out. If mine were not installed by the dealer, I would have given you mine... Still might if I can remove it without having any screw holes exposed after it's removed! Front license plate bracket: Honda Part 71145-SWA-A00 ~$25 Have you tried using a clay bar to see if the scuffs are on the paint surface? Yes, the screw holes are visible, so if I were you, I would leave it on, even though your state doesn't require a front plate. The dealer gave me a good deal on the plate frame so I just got one from them. Didn't cost much. Have decided against the nose mask due to concerns over moisture getting trapped and damaging the paint. In looking at the scratches, they are actually not to metal--they are on the plastic piece in between the headlights and the black part. Any insight on how to best deal with scratches to this? I am not sure if it "plastic" or some other other substance. The dealer gave me a good deal on the plate frame so I just got one from them. Didn't cost much. I am not sure if it "plastic" or some other other substance. like i said. go to local auto parts/super store and buy a clay detailing kit. read the directions, see if that'll take the marks off. if it does, celebrate. if it doesn't, then scratches are through the paint and into the plastic, and short of painting, there's no fix. I've got several on my bumper from plowing a flying piece of plywood on the highway that are through the paint. A clay bar will not remove scratches from the surface of the paint, it will remove contaminates. Bugs, tar, tree sap, some paint overspray, etc. If they are through the clear they will have to be repaired, if they are through the clear and the paint they will have to be repaired, if they are on the surface they likely can be polished out. Check around your area. There is a guy in Winston-Salem who is able to repair textured plastic (he worked on my MINI). One of his tools is a very small sand blaster... Chip H. The dog must die. |
