Home-ITS a CJ not a Wrangler
ITS a CJ not a Wrangler
I hate it when people refer my CJ as a Wrangler, especially from people in the auto repair business. Oh well, just venting from waiting 2hrs to get my tires rotated and balanced. yeah, I really gets on my nerves too. I hate to admit, they are very similar, but amc > chrysler  I just had to explain the differences to my wife again last night...we've been together for 22 years, married for 17 years, and I've always owned at least one CJ for the past 20 years. It was just plain disgusting/disappointing... I just had this happen to me. I took my CJ 7 in to my favorite shop to have all the fluids changed to get ready for the coming season. When they called to tell me my Wrangler was done, I stated it was a CJ not a Wrangler. UGH Despicable behavior if you ask me. Would they refer to a ferrari as a corvette? A mustang as a Nova? NO! Get a Scrambler, you won't have that particular problem. Of course, only real real CJ people even know what it is, and even Jeep dealers/mechanics are cluless, unless they are very close to retirement. i went to a chrysler dealership a while back and they didn't even no what a cj was!!:brickwall the only time my cj is a wrangler is when a hot chick thinks it is:thumbsup: I went to a dealership to get some OEM small parts and one of the sales kids asked what kind of jeep I had and if it was from the 40's or something. I found it to be odd. I haven't had that problem yet. Everyone around here says, "Hey, that's a nice jeep...what year is it"? To which I follow it up with, "It's an '84 CJ7, inline-six 258, 4-speed, etc, etc, etc". Just so there's no confusion... that doesn't bother me near as much as when some @$$-hat calls his sami, isuzu, geo, etc a 'Jeep'! Hoss Up here in Canada, until last year, a Wrangler was a GMC pickup truck or jeans. Jeep just introduced a 'Wrangler' model to Canada and guess what, the sucker come in a TWO wheel drive!!! Ya gotta order 4x4, go figure. The one place we actually drive for part of the year on the road in 4x4 and the first 'Wrangler' isn't one. LOL! [QUOTE=CJeep;4876994]Get a Scrambler, you won't have that particular problem. Yeah, they'll call it a Wrangler Unlimited:laugh: I am just about done with my '64 cj5 restor and just bought a 91 wrangler last night- guess which is the "Beater" hahahahah - didn't own the wrangler for more than 20 min and was doin doughnuts in a buddies yard (rear axel was out) - front wheel drive reverse doughnuts - felt like a kid again - childish - you bet - I prefer the 64, I have more of me into it. that doesn't bother me near as much as when some @$$-hat calls his sami, isuzu, geo, etc a 'Jeep'! Yeah, that tends to piss people off. When my dad had his '79 CJ7 with the 304 a sammie guy always called his 'zuki a Jeep, Dad talked him into hookin' em up in the parking lot after work and drug it halfway across town  You guys are so lucky. I'd take a CJ in a heartbeat over a TJ, but there are few CJs left here that arn't 99% rust. (They love salt and chemicals here in the winter!) I've got great respect for all CJs and their owners, and on the odd occasion that i see one around here, i always wave a bit more enthusiastically! When I first met my girlfriend we were talking about how I was going on vacation from work soon. She asks if Im going any where I responded with " No I'm just gonna be at home working on my jeep" (this was during my 350 swap) "what kinda jeep is it?" she asks (to know that much is cool) Thinking she would have no clue I said its like a wrangler but older. And her response: "Oh wow you have a CJ?!?" My response: :2thumbsup:"I LOVE YOU" hahaha shes a big time jeeper just as much as me...(well almost) Ezredcj... you are one very lucky man! in my case its little different.first jeeps that have imported to my country were cj2a for the army.and later imported CJs but the %99 of the CJs in my country are a CJ5.so someone sees my CJ7(very rare around here) and says cool williys or cool CJ5 ,for both i say Thank you:) .i don't want to get in discussion with them :) that doesn't bother me near as much as when some @$$-hat calls his sami, isuzu, geo, etc a 'Jeep'! HossYeah I know what you mean. My neighbor's friend always drops by with his Toyota Land Cruiser. The bloody idiot always refers to it as a Jeep. I point to my CJ-5 sitting in my garage and tell him "that's a Jeep yours is a Toyota." When I first met my girlfriend we were talking about how I was going on vacation from work soon. Your girlfriend is definitely a keeper. Yeah! A real keeper. My wife isn't much of a Jeep fan, but she did find a good boat (Wellcraft V21 - can't argue with taste like that). My name is Alan and I am a CJaholic. This is my first post here. I bought my first CJ about 3 weeks ago. I have loved CJs ever since I was riding around in my Dad's circa 1985. Now I own one of my own. I just couldn't bring myself to by a woman's jeep (wrangler:D). My name is Alan and I am a CJaholic. This is my first post here. I bought my first CJ about 3 weeks ago. POST some pics of your new rig. I'm not saying there's anything bad about Wranglers, I just don't like my CJ refered as one. that doesn't bother me near as much as when some @$$-hat calls his sami, isuzu, geo, etc a 'Jeep'! That is just stupid ignorance in this day and age. I can't remember where I read it, but I guess back in the 40's a Jeep (with a capital "J") referred to the brand name Jeep both civilian and military, and a jeep (with a lower case "j") referred to any quarter-ton military vehicle built by Willys, Bantam or Ford. That being said, I agree, they're still "@$$-hats!" You can't even do a doughnut in a '08 Wrangler. I know, I tried. Durn traction control. :( |
