Hey guys,

I am going through putting a 2.5" 4wd.com lift on my '74 CJ5. I have the front finally, and I do mean finally, apart. In the process I got a little confused on the size of the bolts used and what should be there.

For example, the bolts holding the shackles to the frame and spring require a 5/8" socket for the head of the bolt, and an 11/16" socket for the nut. I tried to make sure the 5/8" won't fit on the nut, and it definately won't. I want to say it was the same way for the rear bolt as well.

Can anyone tell me the size of the bolts I should be buying at the hardware store to get my Jeep useable again??

I have a 73 and had problems with wierd size bolts too. It is probably from a previous owner. I ended up buying new shackles with bolts front and rear. Another good place to look for answers about your int. cj is earlycj5.com. They are way into rebuilds and helped me alot. good luck.
