Did I just do something stupid? - another CJ

I just purchased another '79 cj7 - $725.00
The engine turns over and runs... But...
Front/rear brakes have been removed entirely.
It's missing one of the front rotors, and the two front tires/wheels.

I tried to justify it to myself that I can use some of the parts on my 'baby' and sell the rest... I better buy my wife some flowers.

Did I make a mistake, was that not an awesome price?... eh regret is sinking in...

Got kids? If so, tell her it's for them when they can start driving. Father/Son project! Works 50% of the time
I have not used that one yet, thanks for the tip!

$725 for it was a good deal, right?
what's the rest of the condition/stats?

I don't think you got screwed, but it really depends what you got, and what you want to do with it?

the sum of the parts is often worth more than the whole.

My current '79 is for daily driving, it's rust free and puuurty...

I see some parts I can rob from it for my current CJ... but I am itching to fix the brake/roter issues, and use it as a beater.
This one's got the 6cyl, th400/q-trac setup, amc20, d30.
rust?

Hoss
$725 doesn't sound bad just looking at it. You cold probably sell/use enough parts off of it to get that much value out of it.
I was about to go look at it, called the guy and he said he just sold it...... )-: Good deal for you!

oh, sorry Slik. I hope it was a good deal:confused:

rust?

Not the frame, but yes on the tub. Not major though.

If the frame and tub are relatively rust free, with minor work needed on the tub then yes, you got a good deal IMO.
No problem M79, the guy sent me I lot of pics, You got a good deal! I was looking at the frame and some of the body parts, mine is pretty rusty. Cheaper to buy that then all the body panels.
I just did the same thing last night. i have a jeep and went out and bought a 80 cj7 and a 92 yj for 1k!!. obviously for the price they are in need of work, but they were driven home (only 5 miles).. i'll post pics too.

Well, now you'll need a parts jeep to fix all that...

Jeeps are an unexplained vortex of the universe.

Good deal!

You can get a wife anywhere, you cant always get a jeep for $725! :)
I feel for you... I have a 1986 CJ7 I just bought that is a project in and of itself... Then my DD died, so I am in need of a car/truck until I can get my 86 CJ7 up and running... Then last Thursday I went out and bought a 84 CJ7 that runs, good brakes, and a bad body...

Jeeps.... It's an addiction you know...

Here is a picture of the 84 CJ7...

One cool thing is, in the 84 CJ7 was a Jeep tote that goes in between the back seat and the tailgate It also came with a soft top, hard doors and solid half doors..

I dont think its that bad of a price for it, I was going to call the guy in a few days and make a offer to see if he's bite, I coulda used a second CJ, I think I owe one to pops for letting me store mine there while I galavant around the world working.
Slikric and M79, wow 2 Ocala guys on the same thread. Make that 3! and I can pull a 4th if you need some help on the jeep.

Heck of a deal. I should check the localas more often.

edit: "Locals", but I like the ring of localas.
