Hi All,

Anyone here wax and seal their stock rims? and have anysuggestions on products to use?

Have been able to keep a nice finish on the paint of my '07 4runner, but the rims are getting alittle iffy

So long as the finish is not porous or rough, like the coated rough cast sections on mid-'90s Camrys, you can use just about any paint care product -- if the finish is porous, stick with a pure wax or sealant-like product. Reason being, cleaners/polishes can tend to chalk over time and look.

Once in a while I do take my PowerBall Mini with some Mothers plastic polish which works pretty well at getting out scratches, brings-up the shine, and protects them.

After every thorough wash I'll spray some FX Spray Wax on a towel and give them a quick wipe for some extra shine and protection.

Any aluminum is a PIA to clean, polish, make shine, and keep nice. :eek::thumbdown:ugh3::disappoin
If they're stock then they're painted or clearcoated. Only use aluminum polish on bare aluminum. Since your wheels are coated you need to treat them like you do your cars paint. Polish and wax them. The polish will clean them and bring back the shine. Then I'd protect them with a synthetic wax.

PB is right on; since your rims are coated you want to treat them like paint!!

I would suggest this Process for cleaning the entire wheel area:

1st: Clean the rims, tires, and fenders with a heavy-duty cleaner. (All Purpose Cleaner (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-24-cleaners.aspx))
2nd: Scrub the tires with a brush. Letting the cleaner sit on the rims for an extra sec.
3rd: With a nice Rim, like in your situation I use my Boars Hair Brush. It is super delicate on the rims .
4th: Rinse everything down with water. Fenders, Tires, and then the Rims.
5th: Once everything is dry I use Adam's Invisible Under Carriage Spray (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-10-dressings.aspx). Inside the Fenders. (Its an awesome product)
6th: Vinyl, Rubber, and Tire Protestant on the Tires, V.R.T (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-10-dressings.aspx). (Leaves a Deep, Dry, Natural Look!!!)
7th: Now the Rims, Use a good Polish and then Wax (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-17-polish-wax.aspx).
8th: Finally as your Rims are still clean but you are looking for that little extra. I use Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-17-polish-wax.aspx). This product will give you that POP and Shine on your Aluminum.

I have listed a few steps before what you were looking for, but it is a necessary process. In preparation for care of the Rims!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is up to you on the buffing, I prefer Elbow Grease . It makes me feel better about the work that Ive done. Just remember that your rims are coated, so just treat them like paint.

I doubt you need a Powerball on your wheels.

I only use a Powerball on bare aluminum wheels that have oxidation on them.
