Truck Trend Picks Names Nissan Titan 1st Over The Other Boys!

LOL Wes I so knew you'd be the first one here, your hate for the Titan is like clockwork. ---------

Go Titan!!

Although what the hell were they smoking putting the tundra above the F-150?? ---------

So Ford is also idiotic for having an even higher tow rating than the Titan on its half-ton, and you hope that F-150s all crash to get their drivers off the road too.

And look at the dimensions, that "undersized" Tundra is actually larger than the competing crew cabs.

No kidding. Anybody else get the impression that shouting out loud and shaking in rage as he was typing his post?

Do we really need another Titan thread? ---------
Well, this one could end up being useful (doubtful), but if it gets bad I'm closing it. ---------

I think every last thread that involves wesman includes his statement that the Tundra is undersized, and those threads graced with his presence are always locked before he can reply to the actual dimensions.

Give this one some time.

You neglected to realize that the F-150 also weighs almost 1000lbs more than the Titan in the trim with which its rated to tow that much. That extra weight helps a great deal in keeping the trailer in check and maintaining control. I still don't think its a good idea to tow that much with any half ton though, no matter what brand it may be.

Heres the dimensions of the Ram vs. Tundra:

Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab 4WD Tundra 4WD
Curb Weight - Automatic (lb.) 5549 4550
Wheelbase (in.) 160.50 128.30
Length (in.) 249.70 218.30
Width (in.) 79.50 75.20
Height (in.) 75.70 71.10
Track Front (in.) 68.00 65.90
Track Rear (in.) 67.90 64.90

The Ram is bigger in every dimension, what a surprise. I figured you'd know that off the top of your head being such a CR fanboy
I was perusing the magazine rack the other day, and the newest issue of truck trend caught my eye. It was doing a road test with 1/2 ton P.U.'s from Ford (150), Toyota (Tundra), Dodge Ram (1500), Nissan (Titan), and G.M.'s Chevrolet (1500).

The Nissan Titan came out on top. I forgot how the order went for the other makes, but I believe the Toyota Tundra got second. I do know that the Chevy was at the bottom.

Apparently the Dodge Hemi and the Titan 5.6 V8 were pretty neck a neck in accelleration/quarter mile category. The Titan didn't win every category, but they did out-point the others in many categorys.

The Titan did have the lowest payload, but was the highest in towing lbs. That could be an important factor for many that want a 1/2 ton for construction purposes as payload ='s carrying lots of heavy stuff in the bed of the 1/2 ton (bricks, dirt, concrete, tools, etc.. In fact the 8' bed is still something that the Titan lacks, and will eliminate some commercial purchase potential.

Anyway, if anyone has a means to scan their Truck trend issue and can Photo-Bucket the article here, that could be helpful. I checked their website, and apparently they aren't showing that latest issues data yet.

2005 Dodge Cummins Diesel Owner.....Luv'in It!

%26quot;Nothing should be said anonymously behind a P.C., that can't be respectfully said in person%26quot; --------- I saw that acticle, what a joke. Not did they pick the Titan for first place (which was bad enough), but they ranked the underpowered, undersized, and overpriced Tundra above the Silverado, F-150, and Ram?? I wonder how much the Japanese payed them to do that article...

As for towing, anyone that town 10,000lbs with a 1/2 ton truck is a stright up retard. Nissan was stupid enough to rate it that high, and consequently there are going to be people stupid enough to try and tow that much. Then they can brag to owners of HD pickups how their crappy import pickup can tow just as much, too bad the Domestics will have the last laugh when these idiots overload their trucks, break the suspension, overheat the brakes, and crash. One less idiotic Titan owner on the road ---------
