2006 toyota 4runner flapping noise
has anyone test-drove it, or even better yet, owns one? i took a test-drive today and noticed what sounds like a 'flapping noise' coming from the engine. It sounds like a piece of plastic stuck in some moving parts inside the engine room or something. It's quite apparent under 50 miles, ie. city driving. The noise sort of got buried in highway driving but i'm positive that it's there even in high speed, ie. ~70 miles. The salesman agreed that it's there. So i'm not imagining or anything. I test-drove 4 cars today and all seemed to have the same noise, although the degree of noise varied from car to car. I concluded that it's made that way. but it's kinda weird that toyota would produce a car with such an annoying noise. any comments or opinion appreciated. 200)?200:this.scrollHeight); overflow: hidden;"> SEE MY ID ---------
I have a 2004 4Runner and have never heard of such a noise. It's obviously unique to that vehicle and the other 3 that you drove. Try another one. --------- If it's the V8 mpdel check out the GX470 forum at www.clublexus.com because some of the guys there are noticing similar noises. I have a 2005 V-8 Sport, and never heard of anything even close to that. Smooth and quiet. But if it is a problem I would also like to know the cause, just to be safe. --------- Checked Toyota's website. All I could find was: "User error.
