LOOKING TO BUY A USED SUV

I laughed out loud but probably shouldn't have...

I'd shoot for a used 4Runner. --------- If you want reliability I'd say away from a land rover, and even an exploder to an extent.

I have an '01 Xterra and love it, so obviously I'd recommend them. 4Runners are great too, though (that was runner-up in my decision). --------- i have been doing a lot of searching for xterra's and 4 runners, they seem to both be very reliable, and safe. has anyone driven a runner and also an xterra?Thank you for the help. --------- Trailblazer lot of power and gread fuel economy but avoid the first year models.

--------- I'd stick with a used 4Runner. I've driven one including older Xterra's and I like the size and the smoother ride of the 4Runner more than the Xterra.

--------- Nows the time to find a good condition, low milage, mid to large suv. If I where you, I would just shop around and try cars.com or vehix.com. Most all reputable dealers offer free carfax reports online, that helps you find out the history of the vehicle so that when you do go to the lot you will have a ball park figure of what you want and then you can test drive. As far as brand of suv thats up to you and your taste however I would shy away from a luxery suv such as the one you described "older Range Rover", if your on a budget they are very expensive to fix. As in your situation I would suggest getting a more traditional brand like Ford,GMC,Chev,Nissan,Toyota,Jeep, made after the 00 year they might not be the most refined or plush, however they are built well and have plenty of parts and dealer support.

I've owned two GMC Envoys and have been very impressed.

2002 and 2005 envoys have been great.

That would be my suggestion.

I am currently in the market for a used SUV after a car accident I had with my '98 toyota 4runner. Unfortunately I was going too fast on the highway, hit something in the road, spun out of control, broke a fence, was able to get the car to move a bit but hit a car as I was trying to go back on the highway. Luckily I do not have any major injuries at all. I am thankful for the safety features and strong body which prevented me from getting seriously injured.

I am looking for another used SUV which will be reliable and very safe. I have been looking into another 4runner, xterra's, possibly a pathfinder, explorer, or even an older range rover as I have found a very good deal on a 2000 range rover. As of right now, it seems as though the 4runner received the best reviews on msn.com auto's compared to the other vehicle's user reviews. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the vehicles I had mentioned, test driving, owning, etc. I am looking to spend up to 15k.

I look forward to hearing the opinions of the others on this forum. --------- Seems like you need a vehicle with stability control.
