My temp gauge registers randomly -- is it the sensor or the gauge--best guess?

any instructions on sensor replacement.

Likely the sensor. It's located in the bottom of the coolant overflow tank. Pretty easy DIY. Empty coolant, replace sensor, refill coolant.

no need to empty, just do it really fast. waste less.. I am ghetto fabulous

When you notice it not working, do the gauge test. If the gauge doesn't move then, it is probably the gauge.

Hold the trip odometer button down and turn the key to the first position. Codes will be displayed in the odometer, then all the lights come on and all the gauges do a full sweep.
