Hi Guys
Well i bought that rebuilt 96 318i. So far so good. Handles well, and is pretty quick. One issue that I noticed that was not there during the test drive: while sitting at idle just after coming to a stop, the motor surges from about 900rpm to 1300 , and back. It does this almost every time i come to a stop, then it stops after maybe 10 surges. The surges are quick almost as if I was blipping the throttle.
Any ideas?

This may sound weird, but how is the brake fluid level?

Well after reading some other boards I fixed the problem today.
I took apart the throttle body, and cleaned it, and also cleaned all the contacts on the two electrical connections on the throttle body.
Then I adjusted the idle.
She is happy as a clam now, no more surging idles nicely at about 800 rpm.
