hey guys i have a 1998 m3 with 72000 miles on it and it sounds very different from my friend's car which has 45000 miles on it....his sounds much more quieter and has more of a mechanic sound to it...should i be getting a tune up or inspection? if so, what should i be doing to get back to tip top shape? im sure there's a loss of power too

Are both of your cars exactly the same? all stock? coz if you have different mods (ex. exhaust to say the least) you'll definitely sound different.

Spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, clean ICV, O2 Sensor, new belts, brake fluid flush, replace PS fluid with Redline, change oil & add in a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner. That should get you going pretty good.
