How long does the OEM clutch/flywheel last?

Hello guys,

Your inputs are greatly appreciated. Today i have experienced some difficulty when shifting into all the gears. The 1st gear is most pronounced. The car has 110K and i have owned it for the last 70k. I haven't had any issue w/ the clutch system yet(knock on wood). The car has been driven daily on both city and hwy roads.

Does this means that i need a new clutch? And how often do you need to replace your clutch?

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness,

It depends on the driver. Probably the average is around 40-50k miles, as a wild guess.

Mine seems to be starting to go at 54k.

Balky in stop-n-go traffic (which I never really do)
chatter when cold and not driven for a couple of days
rare but occasional slip at higher revs
I can press the clutch in about 1 inch and get a clean shift.

I'm gonna toss an E34 M5 clutch and UUC Stage II 8.5lb flywheel in it.

Maybe swap you tranny fluid if you don't have the same symptoms I described.

Thanks for the inputs guys. Interestingly enough, today i experienced no shifting issues. All gears were smooth. Why is it so? Does this has anything to do w/ the SSK?

The thing is, BMW has a tendency to give you "warning signs" before it happens, which is very appreciative.
