Home-Another cooling system question

Another cooling system question

I just finished installing a new radiator in my '96 M3. I replaced the thermostat as well (the water pump was replaced a year ago). I drained the coolant from both the radiator and the block.

My problem is that after putting everything back together, filling with coolant and starting the car, the coolant does not bubble out of the bleeder valve. I sqeezed the hoses and there is no fluid in them. I even tried priming the system by filling the top hose with coolant and still no coolant pumping through.

Any ideas? I ran the car for a while with the heat on full. The air did not get hot.
Thanks,
-T

If you've installed about correct amount of coolant, drive for a short distance, return and top up. This has worked for me and I've never really needed to bleed from the bleeder port.

good luck

Are you 100% you put the belts back correctly?

I think I worked it out. The Bently manual and most of the diy's say to run the car and bleed the system. This did not get the coolant circulating for me. When I followed the method from understeer.com, running the car at 2500rpm. The fluid began to circulate and the heater got warm.
I guess I needed a bit more power to get things moving.
The method from TexasBMW would have done the same thing, I'm sure.

Thanks for the input,

Tim
