Here is a question for you parts gurus. I am converting an M52 to OBD-I using a '95 M3 harness. I understand that the '95 M3 gets the reference signal from the vibration damper on the front of the crankshaft rather than the rear of the engine block like the M52. The interesting thing is that the vibration damper LOOKS the same on the S50 (obviously different though than the M50) as it does on the M52 including the reference point, so I am wondering if I need to swap these or if these two parts not only look the same but are also FUNCTIONALLY the same. I see in the ETK that the part numbers are different, but I'm wondering if the reference point is in the same place on the damper wheel.
Thanks!
