Home-oxygen sensor socket

oxygen sensor socket

I need an socket to change my oxygen sensor, and was wondering if the sockets that I see on shelf at PepBoy's and Autozone would work.

I think the socket size that they carry is 7/8.

Any ideas ?

They might. Just bring the new sensor in for a test fit. You might also be able to use an open end wrench.

Should work. 7/8 is usually a standard size

You can substitute a 7/8" for 22 mm but regardless of which way you go the socket may not be usable due to the very limited clearance. I recently used a 22 mm flarenut wrench; if you want to torque the sensor to spec then you could get a 22 mm flarenut crows foot attachment such as this one (http://www.skywaytools.com/cgi-bin/dyn.exe?doc=europe1.dht&).
