Where could they have got my details from

Had a phonecall yesterday from Llyods cc regarding my account, there had been over 25 attempted transaction on my account within a day which were blocked after about 8, all of these were for between 1-2 and to charities so a bit odd, its not that im tight or anything but dont give to any charity with my card, infact hadnt used this card for 6 months before and its just got a balance transfer on it.
Theyve blocked the account and refunded them all but still.
I just cant understand 1.How they got my details and 2.Why they did tiny charity payments?

1. Impossible to say, could have been from using it in a store? Phishing from a internet browser. Only you can answer that if you retrace your steps with the usage of the card.

2. Fraudsters usually do small payments to test the card to see if transactions will go through.

Thanks for that, still not sure where they got the details from as it just hasnt been used in ages.

Have you thrown any unshredded paperwork with the card details on it out? If not & you've only used it for the BT that suggests that the information leak was from either your issuer or the company that you BT'd from; How you'd go on to confirm this though, I don't know *shrug*
As Norman said, CC fraudsters quite commonly test a card out with a few small transactions before they start stealing from it in ernest.

Your details either came from your bank or you.

You'll never know (and you bank doesn't want to know as they know it's them 99.9%) so just move on and look after your own business as much as you can.

The fraudsters tried to give 4 to oxfam on my card and also bought a track off iTunes for 69p......... RBS spotted it immediately and blocked my card.

i presume it would then allow them to make other, less benevolent transactions elsewhere on the web once such transactions are authorised.
