Trouble finding money - Bad credit

I am a student having a problem finding 1,000 to pay overdue tuition fees.
I have a student account with a 1,600 limit, which i am close to the limit of.
I have tried applying for a couple of credit cards and been rejected. (Presumably have a bad credit rating/history)
The problem is the student loans company are waiting to receive confirmation that I'm a registered student (the money received from this would more than cover the tuition fees due), however the university will not confirm my registration until they receive their payment. I have tried explaining the situation to university and they said to borrow the money from a friend. The problem is i don't know anybody with a spare 1000 knocking about.

Any advice on any methods for obtaining this money would be greatly appreciated, loans? 2nd overdraft? credit card?

I would be able to pay the full 1000 back 3-5 days after borrowing, and obviously would like to pay as little interest as possible.

Thank you in advance!

This also happened to me in my 2nd year. I asked my bank to extend my overdraft for 7 days and they didn't have a problem it. Try then before applying for any more credit cards.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be paying my bank a visit in the morning.

Sadly my bank can only offer me an overdraft increase to 2,000. Still leaving 600 to be found from elsewhere... They blamed the credit crunch.

Did you explain that its only required for a few days and it can then be removed?

Yes, and I offered to send them written documentation from the student loans company stating that the money would be going in.
The bank said that their computer system had no function to increase a student account above 2,000.

Go & Talk to your student union on Monday & advise them of the situation. They can liaise between yourself and the financial dept of the university.

I find it odd how the Student Loans company aren't issuing you with documentation until the university say you're a student. It's a circle that has no end or resolution.

I know it's crazy, both the loans company and my university keep referring me to one another.
I took it to my student support officer within my department today and she is going to try and sort something out.

same happened to me a few years ago. student loans wont release the money until they have confirmation letter from the uni that you are enrolled. And they wont give this letter till you have paid the tuition fees.

Can you pay the fees by cheque? the loan should be recieved by the time the cheque is cashed

It is a difficult situation, been there myself this year when I had to find 3800, 1800 in fees and 2000 in rent arrears from when I lived in halls - long story but basically I applied to the hardship fund who were able to pay my rent arrears, they can't help with tuition fees as the money that would come from them to help you is the money you are due back to them or something like that... it's really a difficult situation and I hope you fix it soon.
