HSBC Security

Got a call from HSBC security dept today saying that they monitor account activity and had spotted fraudulent transactions on my account. They said my CC had been used in India yesterday and also attempts to withdraw at a cash machine although these had failed due to incorrect PIN.

It's 3 months since the card was used at a retail outlet and only other use has been monthly CA payments to Setanta - does it normally take this long for fraud to happen ?

I always thought I would not suffer from fraud as I am very very careful but it just shows you.

HSBC were very good, asked if I had card in my posession which I did, asked if I was travelling which I wasn't and asked if I write my PIN numbrs anywhere which I don't. They have cancelled card and are sending me a new one.
