My credit card company mistakenly told me I had missed two minimum payments when my account was actually in credit and I always paid in full by direct debit every month. They said the letter was a mistake and my account was fine. Will my credit rating be affected?

You'll need to order your credit reports (from Experian, Equifax & CallCredit) to check if the "mistake" has been reported.

Probably best to pay 2 each for a one-off look.

Depending on the 'whole story' you may wish to invoice them for the cost of these via a formal complaint.

Why do you assume the OP is a troll? It was a perfectly valid question, another annoyance on the MSE Bandwagon, referring to other posters as trolls without first having the evidence.

In reply to the OP, do not worry too much as the CRA's are updated anything up to 3 months in arrears, as Yorkshire Boy suggested get a copy of your credit files from all three agencies, if you are on the voters register I personally would go for the online free credit reports.

Agreed. If the OP had then gone on to advise us that they had found a fantastic company that had offered to claim everything back then fair enough - troll alert - but they didn't and as PROLIANT says the question was quite understandable.

I doubt any harm has been done - their mistake in sending a letter is unlikely to be related to the part of their systems that report to CRA's, but if you wait a month and then check yourself at least you can be sure. You could also phone them and ask the specific question and see what they say.
