help me please, default

first id like to say thank you in advance for any replies i get,
right where to start
im in the process of getting a mortgage when i get rejected due to barclay card having put a default on my credit for 3 missed payments, but i had rang and explained why i work away and could not log on to my onternet banking and that my father who has power of attourney over my account had been to barclays and tried to pay for me but the said he didnt have power of attourney (not for the fist time already had a written appology once saying he did) with this they said ok next thing i know i had a letter from an out side debt collector saying i had a default,
now the mortgage underwiters want to see the letter that barclays sent my me appolgising and saying that my father should have been allowed access to my account, i have lost this letter and barclays have nothing on the computer saying it had been given in the first place, and barclay card have no record of the phone conversation i had with them,
where do i stand with this and how can i get it removed or my mortgage approved
i still have a credit score of 963
the default was for 15 quid
i earn in region of 80k
and have a good amout of savings
shoukd this really be affecing me that much?
thanks again for your replies and sorry for been long winded

Absolutely anyone could pay money into your Barclaycard account as long as you gave them the correct account details.

You would likely to be able to obtain a mortgage (with the existing problem) but with a higher interest rate. What you could do is to calculate the difference in mortgage rates between the best rate you have been offered and the higher rate.

Armed with this information you could write to Barclays Bank advising them of your potential loss and state that if the problem is not resolved then you hold them liable for the loss and you will sue them.

Give them the opportunity to write a letter to you explaining the situation and if they do so you will not sue them.

This might be your best way to get the letter you want. You should write to customer relations in Leicester. From my experience they will sort this problem out for you.

So, you (or your father) does not make any payments to your Barclaycard for three months running. Wouldnt your father have contacted you, if he was unable to pay your card? (As 'Idn-100' has pointed out, anyone can turn up at the bank with the dosh and pay into your account.)

You have not had internet access for those very same three months.what about telephones or mail? You have no record of when you spoke to the bank and who you have spoken to (so, the telephone did work). Neither has the bank any records. And the bank's letter to you has mysteriously vanished.

Dear, oh, dear. Either you are not very well organized, or there is some big conspiracy going on against you.

(Scratching head: "Why do those incredible stories always happen to new posters?")

If you knew you would be away it probably would have been a good idea to set up a direct debit so you didn't even have to remember to pay it. I often paid bills, cards, etc for my other half (even fines!) with no problem whatsoever and I pay my boss's rent cheques in for him every month. You would need some form of authority to WITHDRAW money but definitely not to pay it in.

thanks for the replies bengal stripe , right i did speak to barclay card informing them wich they ok'd wich was one of my points i work in iraq so mail is out of question i also dont have telephone banking on my account,my father also informed me as it says.
frankly mate i find your comment at the bottom just rude you make judgment on me without knowing me, im new to this forum because ive never need the advice or had anyproblems in past so had no need to come on a fourm like this and i thought the whole idea of the fourm was to help people not to basically laugh at them, or you just another internet tough guy who finds it amusing

as i say thank you for the other good advice i will be gewtting on to the office in leicester to see whats what
