Marks and Spencer Card- Confused slightly

Hi all

I applied for M and S card several week ago. I got an email saying they would looking at application and be in touch via post.

Got no letter or email so called them today.

I was pass through to someone in underscoring,

She asks me lots of questions my jobs etc and then as a security check wanted to call me at work. I said don't have a direct line so now she has asked I send in 3 months payslips and the application for the card can go ahead.

Do this mean I've been accepted? Anyone had experiance of this?

P.S Have checked my Credit Report and there is nothing untoward on it.

Sounds highly likely you have been accepted subject to ID.

I heard M&S love to call you at work, LOL

Yeah I wouldn't trust them with the calling at work thing, I put on my app do NOT use work (as it's just a central number for anyone who wants to get through to our department) they still called and my manager's manager had to take a message for me!!! Ridiculous.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies!

I definately do not want them calling at work....

I'll just send in the payslips and see how its goes.

Thanks

Yes, they already called me at work and asked some really quite idiotic questions. Their response time for applications does seem to be extremely slow, though - I still haven't had a confirmation letter from them, let alone the card. When I chased them they told me that they're working through a backlog.

I don't know whether M&S Money has it's own customer service people or whether all the calls go through to HSBC?

Based on my experiences with them so far I wish I'd applied for the Halifax 10-month interest-free card instead, though no idea whether their customer service is any better.

...and now, more than two weeks after they checked my credit file, they've written to me to ask me to provide a utility/council tax bill for proof of address. To be fair, I wasn't on the electoral register at my current address at the time they checked my credit file, but even so this process is slower and more convoluted than any credit card I've ever applied for.

But surely it'll be worth it for all the points? :)

You can't beat M&S food can you. :D

You can't beat M&S food can you. :DSeriously!!! Not even with Waitrose lol.

Oh yea i love Waitrose as well mmmmm. :)

Sod the points, all I want is 10 months interest-free purchases - I've got a big payment to make this week (wife's university fees) and I want to spread the payments over a few months. Now I'm going to have to put some of it on an interest-bearing card and squeeze myself over the next couple of months to pay it off quickly. I suppose I should have applied for an interest-free card sooner, but I've never had a cc application take this long before.

M&S is good for a treat. For everyday stuff, you go to Waitrose.

At least, I do... ;)

Neither of the !!!!!!!s will give me a CC though, so screw em both. :D

Jay, I applied for a John Lewis card this weekend and got an instant yes decision, didn't ask for any further info. They have 6 months interest free so perhaps give it a go?

My daughter recently applied for a M & S card (her first credit card) and was accepted - from application to receiving the card took about 10 days.

No phone calls and no other contact - it may help that both my wife and I have M & S cards with no adverse history so no problem with M & S from my perspective.

Is the M &S Card instant decision or do they allways take forever.
