Don't usually post on here but just felt the need to give praise where praise is due.

We have had a Capital One credit card for 12months or so and in that time they have, annoyingly at the time, called to confirm a couple of purchases one small and one big.

This time however they were right - someone had tried using our card for a 'test amount' on a website called napster (never heard of it let alone used it) - they immediatley flagged it rang us and our cards have been stopped and new ones being issued. Fantastic service - hopefully it has saved us a small fortune - god knows how much someone could have spent before our next statement if they hadn't. Now the inconvenience of no credit card in run up to christmas but better than a huge bill!

Any ideas of how the most common way thieves get our card details? Used at bookpeople on 5th and M&S on 22/11 online otherwise used in stores only.

Hiya are you on Quidco? Napster has an offer on there for money back through quidco so could be from there? (no soend offer kind of thing) just an idea. :)

napster is an online download music site. well done on getting a CC helping you.

I would definitely recommend getting set up to view your card account online. I check mine every couple of days and it allows me to monitor whats going on with it and has alerted to several issues (not fraud) which I managed to get sorted fairly quickly.

I was very impressed with their service, allbeit an inconvenience!!!

although far less of an inconvenience than having to try and sort out fraudulent transactions for £1,000s
