Hi everyone,
On my new amex lloyds card they state that if a purchase is refunded to the card then the airmiles earned by that purchase are withdrawn. Has anybody had any luck in purchasing an unwanted item on an amex, gaining the airmiles, then having the purchase refunded to a different card? Are shops etc permitted to refund to an alternative card or even in cash?
Cheers
Whenever I've taken something back to be refunded, it's always been refunded in the same way it was purchased....i.e paid cash, refund in cash. Paid by Visa refunded by Visa. Paid by Amex refunded by Amex etc. They also check the last 4 digits to make sure it is refunded onto the correct card. As they will have been charged a % by the card issuer when the purchase is made, they want to be sure that they get that % back when they refund. Particularly with Amex because they charge a higher % than the others.
Personally I don't rate your chances on your Airmiles fraud.
In comparison to a lot of things I'd hardly call it fraud but thanks, was just a thought I had whilst lying awake contemplating the meaning of life/airmiles :)

Fraud is fact, something is fraudulent or it is not, it is not in comparison to a lot of things. What you are considering is obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception (or one of that group of offences). MSE is not about encouraging criminal activity.
Lol thanks for the advice. I'll look to apply that in all aspects of my life, and hopefully will not find myself so deeply involved in criminal activity again
