Hi
I recently applied for a HSBC 0% credit card and received a letter on the 8th October saying 'pleased to let you know that you have been approved' as long as some 'formalities' were done i.e. confirming my name and address and sending a copy of my current account statement as proof of identity. I got the documents back with a 'thank you' letter.
Apart from a phone call from someone who sounded very confused about what stage the application had got to i have heard nothing else but then yesterday get a letter saying ' sorry, unable to process as you dont meet the criteria'
Are they able to go back on a credit card offer that has been approved and signed for? I made some financial decisions based on the fact that this card had been approved and now have been left with a high interest credit card balance that i was planning to pay off with a balance transfer.
Thanks for any advice
Georgina
