Next Directory

is it possible to get a Next Directory without being credit searched? If not, which CRA do they use and how strict are they?

Hi,

Next Directory will search your credit file and I think they use Equifax

Indeed, it is Equifax, and when you request a book they open you a credit account with (in my experience of looking through people's credit files) a 250 limit.

Only way to get a book without getting searched is to go and nick the one in the store that's stuck to the "get a directory" podium.

Thanks. That is what I'll do tomorrow (joke);)

Alternatively, if you just want a directory if you order from Next online (using an existing credit card) they send you a complimentary copy of the directory. Of course you will have to pay 3.95 postage as opposed to the 3.50 charge for the regular directory, but you won't be credit checked that way.

Amanda

For some strange reason NExt are not upfront about the fact that by requesting a catalogue you are also agreeing to open a credit account.

I also read Next are owned by Littlewoods?

Is it deffo Equifax? Do not need anymore searches to my experian....

Yeah, defo Equifax ... and they've done soft searches on mine as well when I've ordered costly items ...

what does a soft search check against a hard search?

Yeah that happens when I place higher orders - never used up to the credit limit. Mind you this is one account we would'nt want to close!
Welcome back Tori!

what does a soft search check against a hard search?

Hard - full credit search visable to all
Soft - shows only to you - unrecordered

so it does the same thing but only the full is visable.

Yeah that happens when I place higher orders - never used up to the credit limit. Mind you this is one account we would'nt want to close!

Hard check - Credit application
Soft check - Subsuquent Check - Follow up

we're all still hooked on here...

i've got too many searches on Equifax (BT have felt the need to do 4 searches on me) so I'll need a catalogue that searches Experian.

I applied and was accepted for Next when I had a terrible credit rating - i had a ccj that was satisfied and also a default that was paid, they accepted me no problem and my limit has now been raised to 3500. Not that I owe any where near that much I also too had JD Williams, Studio Cards, Littlewoods and Additions Direct, I even got a mobile phone contract needless to say I am spot on with payments now and must say that I still dont understand how I was accepted at that time. So I would personally say try Next you never know your luck.

We are complete opposites LOL. So if you find that when you apply they search your equifax let me know and vice versa........:j

I would be to worried, i applied for vanquis card they declined me, but 3 weeks later i applied for a littlewoods account and got a 330 limit, so each lender seems to look for different things. This is my 500 post:beer:
