Is it possible to pay off monthly bills, elec, gas etc using this or any other card? Seems too easy to make money to me doing it this way....
Not sure if the utilities will allow this.

None of my utility companies take Amex. However, all our shopping (Tesco's + Sainbury's ) and petrol go on the card.

Well you can only ask your suppliers if they will accept the payment by Credit Card.

I pay my utilities on a Credit Card, but not an AMEX card. Be careful because not everyone takes AMEX, also there is a possibility that they will add a surcharge for taking a Card Payment.

But do your research and you may be lucky.

I have hd one of them before but gave it up because several retailers don't accept it, because they take too big a slice of the retail prices.

Anyway, want to reapply because of the 5%, but the online application process sticks for me at the REVIEW stage, I click "Next" but stay on the same page for no apparent reason. Anyone got any ideas for ways round it?

I've never come across any utilities that take Amex, but you could try sending a list of any places you cannot use your card to the Card Suppression Unit, Amex House, Brighton, BN88 1AH.

The Suppression Unit is part of the Merchant Services Department at Amex that try to get extra merchants onboard. They are the best people to advise of merchants who do not take the card. Similarly let them know if anywhere tries to charge you more for using your Amex card or has an Amex sticker in the window, but won't let you use it etc.
