Problems with Barcley Card

Hello all, I really need some advice.Last year my then girlfriend (now wife) got a phone call from a company acting on behalf of Barcley Card about settling her dept (1200ish).Now i had only been with her for 1 year and had nothing to do with the dept i have never had a CC or even taken out a loan, anyway we haggled dept down to about 750 i paid 500 on my debit card and she set up a standing order to pay the rest monthly for i think 6 months. Now a new company "Apex" has rung her demanding money. We told them we had settled it with this "other" company and showed them my statement from debit card and her bank account then heard nothing for a few weeks, this morning Barcley Card have taken 150 out of her account.Has anyone had this happen to them if so any advice would be great. Many thanks in advance.

Contact Barclaycard and ask them who is acting on their behalf. Also find out exactly how much she does owe. When was the debt incurred? If it was over 6 years ago and no one has made contact in the meantime the debt is unenforcable.
If I was in that situation I would tell them to put it in writing and promptly hang up.
Best of luck.
