Hi all,
I recently applied for a Natwest Platinum Credit Card. I was accepted but they have only given me a ridiculous 500 credit limit.
I have been with Natwest for almost 6 years, have one of their Advantage Gold account, they have given me a 600 overdraft limit and have not gone overdrawn for years and I also have a saving account with them.
Would it make any difference if I called them to say that am not at all happy with the credit limit they have given me or is it that banks are very cautious?
Can anyone help....?
Thanks
Maybe they are just tightening up on the credit limits they give people? There is no harm in phoning them up and asking whether it can be increased. Do you have a good credit history or is this your first credit card?
You won't be able to increase the limit until you have had the card 6 months. Natwest don't even offer 0% deals anymore so what do you think about tightening things up!?
Well I have a Natwest advantage Private account and they have given me a private banking visa with 15k limit

I have no 0% on my natwest private visa but I only pay 4% on any purchases for the first 9 months and then 14% p/a

Generally yes, but not always so. Most card limits can be increased at the card activation stage, by up to 20%. The last one I did was the Abbey Zero who gave me an additional 850 to stooze.
Further increases are possible by speaking/writing to the underwriting dept. outlining your reasons for the increase and possibly submitting evidence to prove an increase could be managed properly.
To the OP, 500 is a low limit but it's better than a kick in the nuts. Do you have any other cards?

Well I am not going to pay interest on it as I will only use it like a charge card, HSBC premier have given me a Mastercard and thats 0% for 9 months on purchases however the interesting thing about that is; the purchase and cash advance interest are the same! 11.9%!!!!

BUT, the hsbc premier credit card is by far the ugliest thing on the market!

Sorry your previous post implied you were very happy about the rate you would be receiving on purchases

Yes it did, when bee4321 was actually just rubbing the original OP's nose in the fact that they are richer, with their private banking.......yawn:rolleyes:

It's not about richer, isn't a platinum card supposed to be a status symbol, don't be condescending towards me as I haven't been that way towards you! We are talking about limits on premium cards not limits on poor credit cards!!
and I actually meant "Poor credit" credit cards not credit cards for the poor, before someone else starts a rant.

It's only a marketing ploy if you want to project something that you are not! If you take advantage of the wealth management and other things on offer then it's far from just a marketing anything!

No I was reinforcing what you were saying about Natwest not doing 0% offers
isn't a platinum card supposed to be a status symbol
Perhaps in 1987 ;)
These days theres about as much status associated with a Platinum Credit Card as there is with a mobile phone.
isn't a platinum card supposed to be a status symbol
ehh noooo.
Why don't you get a centurian card and pay the extortionate fee, if you want to try and buy yourself some status. You have some serious "small man" issues, if you think that someone will think more highly of you because you have a certain card:rotfl:
Card issuers are irrelevent, it is your use of the system to your financial gain that is important.

hmmm another lost cause! I don't think you get the jist of this thread, ITS ABOUT CREDIT LOW LIMITS ON PLATINUM CARDS, PRESTIGIOUS CARDS. stop being a dunce and having a go at me, I have at no point been rude to anyone, I am talking about my experience with natwest and one of their premium cards, end of!
