First Direct is not known as an SBT card.

What are the terms of your transfer ? Is it a 0% promotion ?

A few rather special cards will allow you to transfer an overdraft to them (in other words, transfer cash from the credit card to your current account) at balance transfer rates. Unfortunately, First Direct is not one of them.

I have the HSBC cc (same stable). As well as the 2.5% handling fee, you may be charged for a cash advance, currently 21.9% APR (typical) :eek:

If your credit agreement doesn't make this clear, I would telephone FD's customer services and check.

If the transfer was done through their internet banking then it might have been processed as a cash withdrawal - it is best to phone them up and check
