Balance transfer help

I have recently become a university student a few years late having been working various temp jobs for the last few years and have a debt of 2500 on my mint credit card. I'm unemployed and right now, am finding it incredibly hard to find a job near me that fits in with my university schedule, and as I don't drive this limits me to where I can work.

My minimum payment each month is 57. My interest works out to not much less than that, and this interests is absolutely crippling me. What I really need is to do a balance transfer, but I can't see any companies letting me have a card without having a job. I have a medium credit reference - nothing bad, but not enough activity to be excellent.

Also - using my student loan to pay off my card is a no-no - it's already been allocated!

So I'm wondering - it's probably a long shot, but are there any card companies who would give a new card to someone like me to do an interest free for however many months balance transfer to? I'm 21 and I'm living with my parents, if that's any relevance.

Thanks to anyone who can help, I'm at my wits end.

Edit: I've just realised maybe I should have put this in the student moneysaving board, although not sure if it should go here?

unfortunately there is little change you your being givena 0% BT card with no significant income
however, no harm in trying one application

maybe ask your parents to help and pay them a monthly sum?
