Had card stolen, returning items bought with said card

Hi All,

My Barclaycard was stolen on saturday (reported to barclaycard promptly), however we have a few items that need returning to a couple of stores that were purchased using the card.
I would assume if I took the stuff back they'll want to refund to the same card... which of course I don't have anymore, and the new card will have a new number (when it arrives)?
All of my active credit cards are now Mastercards, which if I recall I will hit the hurdle of not being able to have a refund for something that hasn't been purchased on the card.
Only Visa cards are debit ones, which I assume will be a no-no?
