Are credit card purchases insured

I've got an M&S credit card, last month we bought a new TV and surround sound. At the weekend one of the speakers was knocked over and smashed does anyone know if purchases are insured for a period of time or is this a myth. I phoned M&S however they were not very clear or helpful. Thank you:confused:

In general no, unless your specific cards offers that as an extra.

I'm sorry I'm no good with links but if you put Section 75 into main site search at the top right of the page it explains that you're covered for purchases above 100. Hope this helps.

Section 75 won't help you in this case but if you have accidental damage on your home insurance it might be worth claiming under that.

Most AMEX cards come with 90-day protection against theft/damage.
