| I have an old credit card debt from three years ago - about a year ago I sent to certified letters to the original creditor offering a settlement - no answer - it then went to three collection agencies and I wrote them all certified letters offering to settle - no answer - now all of a sudden I get a call from a new collection agency and they will settle - but now - and they have to do a bank draft over the phone - I refused - I told them I want it in writing and then I will mail the check - they said no it has to be now or forget it - what am I supposed to do, I don't want them having access to my bank account, and I want it in writing the amount we agree on but they will not cooperate - what do I do when I want to pay???? I did this. Open a new checking account. Only deposit the amount required plus $5. Do it at another bank other than your own. I had authorized deductions of only $300 a month for 6 months with the collection agency. They called me up only 6 days after the first withdrawl and accused me of taking all the money out of my account. The guy finally admitted he was told to take out as much as he could. On the last day of each month, I made a cash deposit into the account and the next day they took it out. Do not give them any other financial information. send them a cashiers check and not one from your bank. go to Safeway or the post office. then they cant find you accounts.
