Freezing or Seizing Assets or Bank Accounts
| I have a vehicle loan through my bank that was 30 days over due I made every attempt to make payment arrangements which was noted on my account after I was laid off at each attempt 6 total I was unable to make payments at that time. I was finally able to get current but upon getting to the bank I found they had withdrawn the funds already and brought my account up to date and then froze my checking account. MY question is it legal if a loan is not in default for the bank to freeze my funds and cause me further hardship by bouncing checks on that account the funds are in there to cover all my checks but the account is still frozen even though the bank had assured me they were releasing my funds PLEASE I NEED ANSWERS FAST Anybody who can give me some direction with this matter would be appreciated I never recieved any notice from bank until they had already did the deed Your loan agreement may stipulate that if the loan payment are deliquent for a certain period of time, that the bank is authorized to freeze your bank accounts till the loan is brought up to date. It really stinks when that happens but they can do it legally. And they may be allowed up to 4 weeks after you are current before the accounts are unfrozen. And the bank will not notify you what they are doing, they don't want you emptying your account before they freeze it. And you are stuck for any charges for bounced checks. Consider moving your checking to another bank till the loan is paid off.
