| What is the name of your state? Pa. i am being billed for a sewage line that runs on a property that i own which does not have a house to even connect up to it.the sewage dept. told me that if i didn't pay the amout of money they want that they would put a lien on the property.i want to know if that is all they can do.i have no intension of selling this property.will they just have to wait till i die or if i should decide to sell to collect. Even though you are not hookep up to the sewer, as a property owner you are still legally liable for certain taxes and fees that are used to maintain and repair the sewer system. Those that use the system pay additional fees for the service. Depending on how the laws that created the sewer system are written, they may wait it out till you die or sell or when the amount owed reaches a certain amount, the sewer system authority may sieze the property and sell it. They will then deduct all costs, fees, penalties, etc. and return anything left to you.
