I need advice fast. We received a summons on July 9th from the local City Hall that Citibank will make judement if not contacted within 28 days of letter. We called and, of course, they would not budge on any type of settlement. I called my lawyer to get advice on this matter, but he has not called me back. I told him we were considering bankruptcy, which we are about $23,000 in debt. I am on SSD and cannot afford $400 each month they want to garnish from my husbands paycheck. How can I stall them so that we can get in to see a lawyer? I am worried sick about this and need some peach of mind. I told the attorney that we came to see him about 1 1/2 ago and filled out papers for filing, but decided to try to pay back the creditors. Nothing went thru. So all he needs is updated info. I called 2 other attorneys today and one goes on vacation next week, and the first available appt. for the second attorney is Aug 6th. Please help.
