Were can I find a list of collection agencies. CCS? is calling my wife for a debt of her recently deceased mother and they were very rude and threating to her. Her mother has zero assets and no probate was necessary. can someon help and let us know how we should proceed. They left a phone number of 1-800-636-9645. Thanks in advance.

You can find a list of MOST CA's at the American Collectors Association web site. More important is why would you even want to expend the energy to contact them? The debtor is deceased, so they will try to collect from your wife.

How should you proceed? Simple - get on with your life and, as they say in New York, "fuhgeddaboudit". If the CA does get either of you on the phone, just give them the address of the cemetery and suggest they contact Mom there. That's what I did when my mom died in the same circumstances. Eventually the CA will figure it out.
