My boyfriend is going to file bankruptcy. We own a home together. My credit is great.

If he files bankruptcy- but we still make payments on the house on time-will it affect the house? Will it affect my credit?

I called my mortgage companies collections aggency and she said it will ruin my credit if he files bankruptcy. Even if he make payments. She said this is because his name is on the loan. We are not forclosing. Why would it affect the mortgage? Why would it affect my credit?

I can't refinance in my name- my house has no equity. I bought it for 270,000 and it is worth 191,000.
