was the V12 emblem ever re
ally used on the 850? If so, where does it go? I like the lower front quarter panel -- some of you have done this. I also hear the C pillar and the rear deck lid.
IMO... the V12 emblem was not used on the 850, 850CSi, 750 or 760 ...
The ones you see are Mercedes Benz emblems... IMO
I may stand corrected.
Corrected you are. I'm not sure where the stock location is on the vehicle, but I do know that we receive them at Bavarian Autosport as an OEM part from BMW NA.
There you go ... should have kept my mouth shut. Does the lettering style match the model designation?
Most of the 8 series have the "MERCEDES BENZ V12" emblem, very few have the correct BMW "V12". For those of you wanting the correct one, it is BMW part# 51 14 8 175 817, and costs less than $20. Now if you want to know where it goes, see the attached pic.
From what my friend at the dealership told me, is that some dealers attched the emblem, some did not. I am not sure that any came from Dingolfing that way. As you can see the "slant" of the V12 matches the line of the trunk lid, as well as the font style for the "850" emblem. (The "HYBRID" emblem in the pic is NOT OEM BMW...)
http://my.inbox.com/photos/760li/index.aspx here's the stock, OEM, V12 logo on my car.
I use the OE slanted logo on my trunk, and 760 V12 logos on the sides. Great combo, IMHO
