Like most things - depends... Stock system? If so, you'll probably want to use something like the Infinity BassLink for ease of installation - just hijack the signal as it goes into the rear speaker boxes and mount the BassLink so that it fires through the area between the rear seats. thanx Rocky good idea however i usually use alpine components and have already installed the head unit Well, if all you're looking for is the location for the sub - just pull the panel from the front of the trunk and you'll see a hole that can open into the cabin by removal of a couple of pieces from the inside. Sorry I don't have any pics of this - but it makes sense once you pull that trunk panel- What speakers are you using for the rest of the system? I'm just finishing up installing two sets of the Alpine SPX-F17T three-way components (front and rear) and can't wait to fire up those bad boys. sounds good, im using the originals have had a chance to see what types are fitted in the car. The Alpine really makes them sing all i need is some bass weight! I have a custom 12 Alpine susb and and may insall that. Let me know how they sound when you get your system set up Regards P Its super easy to add bass to an e31. If you are running an Alpine (aftermarket) Head Unit, just run RCAs to the amp/s. You can get the remote signal from the CD changer, and the batteries are in the trunk. I run 2 12" JL in a big sealed box and a PPi amp. I have abusing these subs for years and they still wont blow up. Yeah, I tried that for awhile (running the factory speakers) too :) After a couple of months was feeling dissatisfied with the sound - found that the foam on several of the drivers was rotted away and since I've got the whole thing ripped open anyway I just gutted the entire (factory) system and replaced everything. (Good thing I wasn't in a hurry to get the car back on the road!) The speakers on the rear deck are connected and sound great! I've "just" got to fabricate new enclosures out of fiberglass for the mids that have to fit into the door-maybe next week... |
