I am going to diagnose a misfire on my 8, any ideas where the OBD connector is?

Check it one plug at a time, Probably a plug or injector. Pull them one at a time, The one that does'nt show any idle difference is the culprit.

Its such a slight misfire that it doesnt do it on idle only when driving, im going to plug it into my laptop to establish the culprit

The cause of the misfire on my 740iL (E38) was accumulation of oil in the spark plug hole of the #8 cylinder (drivers side rear), which was caused by leaking valve cover gasket - go figure? New valve cover gasket and the misfire went away..

is where the obdii connector but as others already said the most likely problem is the valve cover gasket. I too had that and usually when the car was hot. Once it was warm the misfire stopped as the engine burned the oil off. pull both rear plugs 4 and 8 and see if they have oil around them. if they do it is valve cover gasket time ! Also order the kit which includes the actual valve cover gasket and the inner gasket as well, most of the time the inner ones fail !
If you see tiny drops on the floor coming from the middle of the car behind the engine, also valve cover gasket. the oil runs to the back and drips to the transmission and drips down. For months I thouhgt it was trans oil then I actually smelled it - engine oil ! Trans oil usually green/red engine oil in my case is purple or brownish (I'm using royal purple)
other possibilities are coil (change the one is defective) and spark plug (just use a single platinum not the marketing hyped dual/quad platinum) and camshaft sensor. the camshaft sensor will cause misterious problems but more serious problems then any of the others.

Hi Guys i have recently replaced my cover gaskets.
There was lots of oil in banks. I have the software and would like to see whether the obd picks up on the fault. I do hava a Beru coil pack lying around which i could experiement with.
