The brakes on my car are 100%, but down the road, I wouldn't mind a upgrade, has anyone ever done a CSI brake upgrade to their i or ci?

I was reading up on it, what is the floating (something to that note) rotor set up all about? How expensive is the complete upgrade?

I done it, It use to be a lot of deals on Ebay.de But the rare things like that seem to have slowed down somewhat, Full price is around $3,500 front and rear for new ones.

If you do it, Make sure there the ///M Euro brakes.

$3500 pricing is optimistic, I'd put retail more at around 5-6 grand. Dinan sold these parts as their stage 3 brake kit for years, and their usual markup for the ruse that it was actual Dinan engineering. So you'll see some of these Dinan cars running around with them.

It's a rare kit. Only found on euro E31s and '95 E34 M5 cars. The rears are E31 specific. The M5 parts won't work, although the M5 rears are rarer so you're less likely to find them. I found and imported a set a few years ago and rebuilt them, they came out very well. Pad selection isn't great, although there are a few people in the UK/Europe who have commissioned aftermarket offerings.

Front rotors are expensive. I think there's a good explanation of how they work on the M registry.

For what it is, they're very good brakes, essential if you want to keep the car entirely "factory". Great power, feel and resistance, but there are less expensive kits available that use the same rotor dimensions and have better pad selection.


My 850 has urethane thrust rod bushings, not sure who made them (PO's addition) -- powerflex, maybe?
