You guys think they destroyed it yet or if its still sitting in some building somewhere?
Man, I want that car, even if it isn't finished.

Car is sitting in the BMW Museum basement in Germany, under a cover in the corner Car is sitting in the BMW Museum basement in Germany, under a cover in the corner How do you know? (not that I don't believe you, because it probably is) I am originally from Munich and that's what the word is... (cool museum too!) I am originally from Munich and that's what the word is... (cool museum too!) Nice! I lived in Germany for 5 years (Near Stuttgart) before I came to the U.S. I plan on seeing that museum someday, what 8 series related things are in there? Anybody up for getting the M8 out of there? Lol... Nice! I lived in Germany for 5 years (Near Stuttgart) before I came to the U.S. I lived right outside of Rottweil (where the dogs come from) which is about 45 minutes south of Stuttgart. So are you German or American? German so what was it about the m8 apart from the mc laren f1 engine? so what was it about the m8 apart from the mc laren f1 engine? You mean, what was it about the F1 apart from the BMW engine? It is well documented and posted that the BMW F1 V-12 shares NOTHING with the M/S70 series passenger car engines, only the bore spacing is the same. The "M8" did NOT use the F1 engine, it may have had a modified M70 series engine known as the M72 which was a 48 valve engine with ITB similar to all other "M" engines of that era or a S70 with ITB. The M72 was intended to be used in passenger cars and had single TB with familiar DK motors. http://www.mwrench.com/Whitepapers/V-12%20Myths/%20V-12%2048%20valve.jpg How do you know? (not that I don't believe you, because it probably is)There's also a pic of a Rare factory Convertible M5 parked before the M8, I need to get in there and look around. Ed! Any guess of what HP might have been achieved once the tuners or you went inside the M8's engine? Just curious of what we didn't get, Thanks! I thought the M8 was at the museum locked away in poison storage. Rumor has it it's already been destroyed. They don't want to show it in the museum because it has rough bodywork and an incomplete interior, but I don't really think that would bother any of us. Ed! Any guess of what HP might have been achieved once the tuners or you went inside the M8's engine? Just curious of what we didn't get, Thanks! If the "M8" used a modified S70 engine with that crappy head, they wouldn't get much more if any beyond what people now get from the 6.0L conversion. Henry Lawrence has a ITB assembly and has dyno'd it, that combination works OK but just OK, it did not change the high RPM power band or peak torque curve much at all. If BMW used a modified M72 4 valve head engine, could probably get close to 500 HP without much trouble. With high compression, tuning and cams probably near 550 HP. If they went crazy (for a street/race combination) >600HP BMW engines with 4 valve heads respond VERY well and can get big gains with tuning techniques but no one does much except specialty tuners and that is BIG BUCKS! It hasn't been done for the masses! Awesome, Thanks a bunch Ed! Now thats some engine, this would have been a lovely engine for a 850ci |
