Home-Ebrake cables

Ebrake cables

I'm in the process of switching over to the handpull ebrake from the TJ and I'm now trying to find cables the right length and have the right fittings. Anyone happen to know if the brake drum backing plate holes for the ebrake cables to snap into has been the same throught the years? I'm hoping the TJ cables will snap right into the existing hole and I'll be able to finish up the rear of my jeep.
kstopp,

Great question but what was wrong with the orginal e-brake?
I don't really like using footbrakes, and it removed quite a bit of clutter undernear the dash area. The original cables were frozen solid so for the price of a used tj pull lever and whatever cables I use, I've got a working ebrake and a hand brake design that I prefer.
I heard of someone making their own cables. They uses SS 10 guage braided wire, measured them out, found some sort of teflon housing, and put those lead anchors down on the ends that you need to crimp the hell out of and they will never come off.

WWWWWAy off topic, but quick question since we are talking about emergency brakes. Just changed the rear drum shoes on my carolla and my ebrake barely works. Do I need to tighten the cable? Where do I do it? What the heck do I need to do?

Thanks. I will find out exactly what m
FYI - you can get replacement e-brake cables from any auto parts store. This will at least give the lines that go from the splitter (wrong name I know) back to the axle. The front portion should be plenty easy to make work.
