How to remove DRY chewing gum?

I got a chewing gum on my rear fabic seat for years. It is dry and hard now. How can I remove it? Hey niceguy, Have you spent anytime just picking at the dry gum? Try loosening up the area with a fabric cleaner! Let me know if this helps. Thanks, Goof Off can be used to remove chewing gum from fabric. I've never used it on seats, but have used it on carpet. You should spot test for color fastness in an inconspicuous place before using it, and be careful with it. If you get it on trim, like seat belt buckle covers, etc., it WILL melt plastic. Google is your friend: video (http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-remove-chewing-gum-from-clothes) Basically, if there's enough to get hold of, freezing it with ice can help make it solid so you can lift it. Another technique a buddy used with success when his kid lost some gum and it sat for weeks on his new Pathfinder, he rubbed table salt on it with a cloth to help dry it out somehow and it slowly disintegrated and came up (vacuum thoroughly afterwards, of course). I was going to suggest going to Radio Shack and getting the freeze spray and then scraping or breaking off. So, it makes the dry gum brittle, then any residual, use goof off or WD 40.
