How many uses can one expect from a clay bar? I know that when you drop it on the pavement you need to toss it. But when do you know when it's time to get a new one?




It totally depends how dirty the vehicle is, and how big the clay bar is. I like a nice big 6 or 8 ounce clay bar because I have big hands and it's easier to hold. I can usually clay my truck at least 4 times before I throw the clay away. But that's kind of overkill. You can probably get twice that many uses out of most clay bars. The clay bar should be fine as long as you can fold and knead the clay and none of the old contaminants show up.

You will know when it is time to toss out the old bar. It will look dirty and will be full of contaminates. Adam's makes an awesome 8 ounce Clay Bar (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-37-8oz-clay-bar-lubricant.aspx). I usually cut mine in half and use four ounces at a time. Depending on your ride you should be able to get 10 to 15 uses out of our 8 ounce bar, possibly more.
