Klasse long term use?
|
I'd like to hear from people that have been using Klasse for several years. I saw a consumer reports review from 1995 or so its been available for a long time. I've read about it being a great product but I'm interested in its long term affect on the paint. My cousin used liquid glass (another polimer sealant) on his ford Escort GT in the late 80s and his paint has a nice gridlike cracking on his hood and top. My brother tried Auri (from the TV infomercials) in the early 90s on his Mazda truck and his truck paint faded. I growled and grunted with good old turtle wax every month and my car of the time (82' chevy Citation) didn't have the same problems. My 97 Eclipse is fine with Meguiers cleaner wax for the last 10 years. I'm starting a family now and won't be able to keep up with both mine and my wifes car every month. Every 6 months won't be a problem. Any long time users out there? I'm not a long term user (2 years), but I know some guys that have used it for maybe 8 years, and their cars still look perfect. I would say that the problem with your friends paint has nothing to do with the wax. It was probably bad paint or bad prep before the color or clear coat was sprayed on. No problems here, used Klasse on all 3 of my cars since '00 Klasse is one of the best on the market IMO... Compared to all line up of Turtle, Meguiars, Mothers, Wolfgang, and even Pinnacle. Klasse is best for both the lazy yet picky people like myself. I am sure Pinnacle and other premium line of brand names would outshine and outsmooth Klasse, but they are hard to apply and require a lot of prep work. I pu Klasse on my Acura 1.6EL every 4-5 months, and the car is parked outside all year and driven through winter months. Almost 7 years later, the paint is still close to brand new. I recently had to repaint the rear bumper from a small accident, and there was no need to blend in the paint because the fresh paint matches the entire car :) I wax the Camry and Integra a lot more often, so the paint is mint anyway. It is the Acura 1.6EL that doesn't get too much time in the garage and is a perfect candidate for testing. Thanks Tony, Are you using Klasse AIO by itself or using the sealing glaze on top of it? What type of weather do you have were you are? I'm in Houston with really blistering summers and mild winters. Was the Mazda truck red perhaps? That's his problem. All red cars fade in the South due to the sun... regardless of what you put on them. Nope it was a sky blue B2000 round late 80s or early 90. Washed with Auri (as recommended on the bottle) weekly and waxed with Auri 2 months. I tested Auri on my car side by side with the turtle wax 2000 I had been using and wasn't impressed. The turtle wax seemed to make my sky blue citation shine better than the Auri. http://home.earthlink.net/~midarkie/VEHBlueChevy.jpg  Not saying about Auri now but that was my experinece with it 15 years ago. Auri commercials made a point of saying it was not a wax but a "POLYMER SEALANT". When Klasse mentioned it was not a wax, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a rebadged Auri making a comeback. |
